Canoeing in Tämnarån
Here below, 2 tours starting from Stromsberg mill are presented.
Tour 1 - North:
Put in the canoe from the jetty north of the power plant.
After a few km of travel just before the Tegelverkströmmen there is a jetty on the east side of the river. Pick up the canoe there. Go by land - either the old farm road or the path along the west bank of the river.
Beyond Braxenströmmen there is a jetty. Put the canoe in there. (The intrepid canoeist can, of course, paddle through both currents.)
In Vad there is a bridge. Pick up the canoe there and walk by land about 600 m to the next jetty in Vad (the river's eastern shore).
Put the canoe in there and paddle up to the jetty north of the wooden bridge at Bolstan (west bank).
If you want to continue north – take the road! Beyond the bridge towards Skärplinge there is a jetty to put in the canoe for continued paddling to Karlholm.
Tour 2 - Southward (against the current):
Place the canoe at the jetty in the bath.
After a few kilometers of paddling, there is a jetty on the eastern bank of the river. There is also a rest area.
You can - without lifting the canoe - paddle on.
After passing under the bridge in Tolfta there is a jetty at a rest area with a grill, rest table, windbreak and toilet.
Paddle further south. At Gillberga there is a jetty on the east side by the footbridge. Lift the canoe there and put in for continued travel from the jetty south of the bridge.
At Skämstabron there is a jetty with a rest area (west side).
Paddle on to Fors. A jetty is located north of the stone bridge, from which you launch the canoe and the land road passes the bridge. South of this you will see the next jetty to continue the waterway.
In Torslunda, after passing the suspension bridge, there is a jetty with a rest area.
Continue on the water to the jetty at Tierp's church (under the road bridge) on the west side.
Here you can return by water to the north again to Strömsberg mill.
If you want to continue south - lift the canoe and take the land to Dammen Ullfors.
It is a much easier way to take the canoe overland to Annedal (where the canoe trail begins) and paddle to Ullfors.
