Welcome to the vikingaleden trail

-prat of the St Olav Waterway, which is the world´s first pilgrim route across the sea.
The pilgrim route runs from Turku in finland, through a shimmering achepelago via Åland to Grisslehamn by the sea of Åland in Roslagen, Sweden. That is starting point for the Vikingaleden which connects the Roslagsleden trail and the St Olav Waterway with the Upplandsleden trail.
In Älvkarleby the hiking continues on to the Helgonaleden trail following in St Olavs footsteps all the way to Trondheim in Norway.

The entire pilgrim route is 1200 km long and passes through ancient places along old paths and roads that may have been used during the Viking Age.The scenery varies along the hiking trail, and includes wild countryside with rare fauna and flora, lakes, forests, pastures with stone farms, working rural areas with old villages, milestones and Walloon ironworks
