Carl XVI Gustav
Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia visited Älvkarleby in September 1988. The King performed three inaugurations during the visit: the new Mellanfallsdammen, the Swedish Board of Fisheries' experimental station in Brobacken (now SLU's fishing experimental station), and the new suspension bridges over the river at Korallen
Carl XVI Gustaf's emblem is found on the suspension bridges, which are part of Vattenfall's environmental investments in the fall area. At SLU's fishing experimental station, there is a monument with the king's signature engraved in stone. A fishing trip in the river was also included in the visit.
